Episode 4

Episode 4 of Botching The Finish is available for download or stream!

This week, Steve and Kristen have a confession to make: They haven't finished RAW yet.

So what is there to discuss, you might ask? How about the reason why they haven't finished RAW yet! And not only that, but how this problem is not likely to get better any time soon! (Spoiler: It IS very much wrestling related!)

So come along for the ride as we forego much of the usual RAW recap and such, and instead have a spirited discussion about the current state of WWE programming, and where it could be going seriously awry!

You can either stream the show right from our BOX site, or download it to your computer!

Rey Mysterio suspended

From WWE.com -

STAMFORD, Conn. - In accordance with it's Talent Wellness Program, WWE has suspended Oscar Gutierrez (Rey Mysterio) for 60 days effective Thursday, April 26 for his second violation of the company policy.

From my mind -

Fuck Rey Mysterio. Normally, I wouldn't be so harsh, but it feels appropriate here. Rey has steadily sucked more and more over time, to the point where all of his matches look like replays of each other. In the ring, he's even more predictable than Cena, if that's possible. He hasn't done anything interesting in, literally, years. On top of that, he's seemingly ALWAYS injured.

And now he's managed to get himself suspended for a Wellness Policy violation while at home nursing an injury.

I'm sincerely hoping that we will all read the words "Rey Mysterio" and "future endeavors" in the same sentence very, very soon.

Vaya con Dios, puto.

Where I've been for the last few weeks...

So, I start this wrestling blog, right? And I'm all excited to be writing about wrestling again (I had a wrestling column at  TPWW.net years ago), since the CM Punk 'shoot' storyline got me back into wrestling last year...

...and then WrestleMania XXVIII happened.

Holy shit. Holy, holy shit. What a disappointing show. What a complete and utter disappointment. What a $60 letdown. And, no, I'm not upset just because my predictions were all pretty much off. I'm upset because it was so incredibly bad that it punched me right in the belly, knocked the wind out of my lungs, and ALMOST COMPLETELY made me lose the love of wrestling that I had before it.

I say 'almost' because I do still want to watch, but I'm no longer eagerly awaiting RAW or SmackDown (and I don't watch Impact Wrestling...I have self-respect). It now sits on the DVR until the missus and I get around to it, and that's a shame. We were having so much fun...

I'm not saying that my enthusiasm won't return, but WWE is gonna have to actually do something interesting to restore my faith, and lately they haven't been doing much...which brings us back to the aforementioned CM Punk.

Look, I get it. Chris Jericho, as a heel, likes to make bold and bizarre proclamations about his opponents. It's been his M.O. since the olden days. But this 'CM Drunk' storyline is just flat-out retarded. It's not interesting, it's not smart, it's not funny. It's just completely ridiculous, and it doesn't make any sense.

Jericho insists that Punk is drunk/has been drinking/is freebasing record vinyl/touched him as a child/whatever, and WE ALL KNOW that he's making shit up. There is no drama, no tension, no nothing. It's like a playground bully just yelling over and over that another kid is a booger-head or something else equally childish. It doesn't make the kid an actual booger-head, it just makes the bully look like an idiot for only having one weak and untrue insult and repeating it over and over again, and that's exactly what Jericho is doing. Lamely shouting one weak and untrue insult over and over again and embarrassing himself.

Punk was the 'shoot' guy. He was the guy who wasn't afraid to tell it like it is. He was INTERESTING AND FUN TO WATCH. But now he's just dull. Dull, dull, dull. And that is not an insult directed at CM Punk. It's an insult directed at the writing team. You had a guy who was completely over with the crowd, and is also the WWE Champion, and you plug him into a storyline with a guy who is hitting the same tired sour note over and over again, and it's just sad. Punk's the champ and he's an afterthought. Meanwhile, Cena and Lesnar have center stage for their 'who gives a shit?' feud. Shame on you, writing team. Shame.

On top of all of that, PUNK ALREADY CLEANLY BEAT JERICHO AT WRESTLEMANIA. If you want to have the grudge match at Extreme Rules, fine. But WHY is the title on the line? Jericho lost. End of story. New #1 contender, please.

If Jericho wins the belt, this just might be the shortest lived column in internet history, because that act very well might drain the last of my enthusiasm from me. Until then, I remain hopeful that WWE gives me something interesting to watch other than Daniel Bryan, because right at this moment he is the only interesting person in WWE.
